Blueberry or Strawberry Muffins

1/2 c Butter or margarine
1 c Sugar
2 c Unsifted flour
2 Eggs
1/2 c Milk
2 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Salt
2 1/2 c Blueberries or 1 1/4 c. fresh strawberries
1 ts Vanilla
2 ts Sugar for top
12 Maraschino cherries for top
1/2 c Walnuts
1/2 c Raisins

When using frozen strawberries, use 1/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup juice.

On low speed, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until blended. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk and vanilla. Mash 1/2 cup of the blueberries and stir in by hand. Use muffin cups and grease top of muffin tins as well. Pile mix high in each muffin cup. Sprinkle sugar over top and add cherries. Cook at 400 degrees for approximately 20 minutes. Makes 12 muffins.
