Blueberry Bran Muffins

1 1/2 c. crispy bran squares cereal
1 c. milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 c. fresh or fresh frozen (not thawed) blueberries

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line 12 medium muffin pans with paper baking cups. Mix together cereal, milk, sugar, egg and oil. Let stand 10 minutes, stir to bread up cereal. Meanwhile, combine flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Add to cereal, along with blueberries. Stir gently until lightly moistened. Divide among muffin pans. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned. If desired, brush warm muffins with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture (2 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon). Makes 12 muffins.
