Bran Muffin Mix

2 c. Kellogg's Bran Buds
2 c. boiling water
2 1/2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. shortening (rounded)
1 qt. buttermilk
5 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
5 tsp. soda
4 c. All Bran
2 c. dates or raisins


Combine and cool: Kellogg's Bran Buds and boiling water. Then in large bowl cream: sugar, the 4 eggs - one added at a time, shortening, and buttermilk. Then, blend together with flour, salt and soda. Add All Bran and mix well. Add raisins or chopped dates as desired. Then add Bran Buds and water mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Batter may be stored for 2-3 days in refrigerator.
