Cherry Muffins

1/8 lb. butter
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. pastry flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. maraschino cherry juice
Finely chopped pecans
Powdered sugar
Sm. maraschino cherries

Cream together butter, white and brown sugar. Add 2 well beaten egg yolks. Slowly beat in flour, baking powder and cherry juice. Fold in 2 well-beaten egg whites. Butter small muffin tins and sprinkle with pecans. Top with 1 teaspoon of batter, then a cherry, another teaspoon of batter. Sprinkle top with pecans. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or lightly browned. Roll in powdered sugar while warm. Keeps well in covered container.
