Door County Cherry Muffins

1 lg. egg
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/3 c. tart cherries
1 c. milk
1 c. bran buds
1/3 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Add milk and oil to beaten eggs. Stir in bran buds. Let stand at least 20 minutes. Stir flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder together. Fold flour mixture into cereal mixture. Add cherries and nuts. Stir together. Bake at 375 degrees for 22 minutes. Makes 12 muffins.
