Mandarin Muffins

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 c. melted butter
1/2 c. milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 (11 oz.) can mandarin oranges, well drained & coarsely chopped
Melted butter
1/2 c. sugar, combined with 1 tsp. cinnamon


Sift first 6 ingredients together. Combine 1/4 cup cooled butter, milk, and egg; add all at once to the flour mixture. Stir until flour is moist. Add mandarin oranges and mix lightly. Pour batter into 12 paper lined muffin tins and bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven and while hot dip tops of muffins into melted butter and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
